What's it all about really?
This morning I woke up and happened across an old newspaper supplemental article at breakfast about how teaching as a profession is seeing a drop in the number of aspirants - for a variety of reasons but primary among them being the relatively low "status" awarded to people who chose to take up this profession - in terms of monetary or societal recognition.
Co-incidently this evening I also happened across this piece by my favourite blogger about society's perceptions about the service industry... Unfortunately being among the bigger fish in the pond still accounts for a lot of esteem and the only socially visible yardstick of that again unfortunately seems to be money / fame.
At my current stage in life, am torn between choices revolving around what I THINK will be better for me as a person in the long run, and what I KNOW will be better for me financially in the relatively closer future... The problem being that there are too many uncertainties with the former and quite the opposite for the latter... I definitely have it easier than most around me but it doesn't serve to make the choices any less confusing....
