Gin Factory Road...

I wouldn't really go so far as to call it an epiphany... but I was walking down the aforementioned "Gin Factory Road", when I realized that moments like these were what I'd really want to remember? moments which really should be part of my journal/ blog/ memory-bank so to speak, as given my abysmally short term memory, I would be unlikely to remember them otherwise.

Arriving in Tuticorin last week, I quickly realized that it was actually worse than I imagined... Rather than being a one horse town, even the horse was seemingly vacationing elsewhere...

On the flip side though, the food during the first week of my stay there, wasn't all that bad, and the willingness of the guesthouse cook to dish out Maggi every evening, was actually pretty bloody brilliant! That coupled with the truly incongruous lounge room complete with a pristine snooker table was the highlight of the trip.

It also helped that my trip was broken up with nice weekend breaks back in Bangalore... The first one was a bit of a longish one thanks to the harvest festival celebrated all across India under various names, but celebrated as "Pongal" with particular rejoicing thanks to a bumper crop throughout the state of Tamil Nadu. This being essentially a harvest festival, and our work being in a primarily rural / agricultural part of the state, pretty much everyone was in Holiday mode...
